China Airlines plans to order four Boeing 777-8 freighters
China Airlines, based in Taiwan, has announced its plan to add four 777-8 freighters to its fleet, with deliveries scheduled to begin in 2029. These advanced freighters will strengthen its long-haul cargo operations to North America and Europe, complementing its existing fleet of 777Fs.
According to the airline, the 777-8F offers improved range, payload capacity, and flexibility, allowing for better operational efficiency and enhanced cargo capabilities.
Currently, China Airlines operates 17 freighters, including nine Boeing 777Fs and eight 747-400Fs, maintaining an all-Boeing cargo fleet. While the first 777-8F delivery was originally expected in 2027, delays have pushed the timeline to 2028, with China Airlines’ first delivery set for 2029.
The airline is also preparing for the future by ordering 10 Airbus A350-1000s and 10 Boeing 777-9s for its passenger fleet, aimed at supporting long-haul routes to North America and Europe. These deliveries are also expected to start in 2029.
